Toolmaker / Assembly Engineer
Due to continued business growth, we’re looking for a skilled Injection Mould Toolmaker / Assembly Engineer to join our expert team in Warrington. You’ll help build precision moulds for critical medical device components — the kind that improve lives around the world. Work with passionate engineers and designers at a company known for innovation, precision, and making a real difference in healthcare.
Job Description
Build new and refurbed single to multi-cavity mould tools to a high-quality standard with close attention to detail and in-keeping with deadlines to ensure on-time completion
Carry out breakdown and preventative maintenance on mould tools on bench as well as in moulding presses
Collaborate with design engineers to develop tooling and improve efficiency
Assist manufacturing team on different departments where and when required including surface grinding and surface polishing
Assist in the continuous improvement of the performance of the Company as well as training apprentices
Ensure that the Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to throughout
Ensure that housekeeping of the department is kept to Microsystems high standard
Undertake any duties as assigned on either temporary or permanent basis by the Tool Rom Manager or Senior Member of Management.
Additional Responsibilities
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of machined components using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records and issue reports on tool services and refurbs.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during manufacturing and assembling, including proper handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
Training: Provide training and guidance to junior members on manufacturing, assembly and best practices.
Qualifications
Mechanical engineering qualification or toolmaker apprenticeship or equivalent
Knowledge: Understanding of plastic moulding tools
Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot moulding tool issues.
Experience of Hot Runner systems would be beneficial
Attention to detail: Excellent attention to detail and precision in manufacturing and assembling operations to high-quality standard.
Basic electrical knowledge/Computer Aided Design (CAD) use and ability to read technical drawings.
Communication skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly
